This 31-mile scenic drive has something for everyone: great views, short walks, wildlife, picnic areas, history…and more! This guide describes a 32-stop trip from north to south, but you can use the mileage guides to drive south to north or to do any section of the road in the park.
- Park mileposts start just outside Gatlinburg, TN, and end 31 miles later at the junction of U.S. 441 and the southern terminus of the Blue Ridge Parkway near Cherokee, NC.
- Half of your drive will be up and half down, with Newfound Gap as the high point in the middle.
- During the almost 4,000-foot climb, you will pass through forest types and ecosystems typical of more northern states and Canada.
- Pullouts provide photo opportunities and enjoy the numerous places to sit near the stream.
